Our Branch - Development Services
We play a key role to facilitate Brisbane’s growth, so our unique, subtropical capital continues to offer quality of life for visitors and residents.
Our branch is the destination for applications relating to development, including engineering and plumbing. We have an amazing team of dedicated, passionate, and service focused professional people who have our residents, building construction industry and communities at the heart of what they do.
Engineering Services play a vital role in this multidisciplinary branch and our engineers are involved throughout the lifecycle of a development. We are made up of two key teams, Engineering Assessment and Engineering Compliance.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to rotate within both Engineering Assessment and Engineering Compliance teams to develop and obtain a broad range of civil engineering skills.
The Role
As part of the Development Services branch, you will apply your technical expertise to conduct electronic assessment of low-risk development applications. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policy and/or assessment of detailed design or construction of assets to be contributed to Council. You will provide low technical engineering advice to customers and assess engineering reports and site works related to road works, drainage and transport and traffic infrastructure, ensuring statutory and Council requirements are met.
Reporting to the Principal Engineering Officer, officers will be based at Councils main office in Brisbane CBD.
Development Services branch supports flexible working options, working 3 days in the office, 2 days from home (based on a full-time officer). There may be opportunities to work off site too.
To be successful you will have:
- ability to apply best practice in engineering principles in assessing development applications
- ability to work in a complex, legislated environment
- ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- high level proficiency in commonly used computer systems and software, e.g., MS Office
- engineering assessment and development experience would be a bonus
- possession of a current “C” Class driver’s licence
- possession of a White Card (Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is desirable
