Our Branch
Support Services operates under a centralised model, offering vital support services to Council. Our efficient back-of-house support enables increased allocation of resources towards Council's primary service delivery areas.
About the Role
As an experienced Financial Controller, you will take the lead in delivering high-quality financial services whilst working in close partnership with our key groups. In this pivotal role, you’ll manage a team, ensuring all financial activities including business planning/budgeting and forecasting/financial, and managerial accounting/analysis/reporting meet compliance and commercial requirements. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and internal customers, providing expert financial, managerial, and accounting advice to support strategic decision-making and drive business performance.

To be successful in the role you will have exceptional customer service and client relationship skills, strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability in working collaboratively to achieve business outcomes.
To be successful you will have:
- Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting
- demonstrated ability to provide strategic business advice on a wide range of complex financial and accounting matters
- proven track record of working collaboratively with senior management to drive and implement business improvements, underpinned by a strong continuous improvement ethos and experience in process automation
- highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- strong organisational, time management and prioritisation capabilities
- exceptional customer service and client relationship skills, aligned with our values and supporting a One Council approach
- proven leadership capabilities consistent with Council’s Leadership Blueprint.
Ideally, you will hold a qualification in accounting or a related business discipline, along with membership in a recognised professional accounting body.
