Branch: Construction branch, Trade Services

Salary Range: $1709 per week + 14% Superannuation (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

The Trade Services work unit is a key component of the branch. It is at the heart of maintaining and enhancing Brisbane’s essential infrastructure. Specialising in skilled trades such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance, the team ensures the city’s assets remain safe, functional, and sustainable.

Trade Services currently have opportunities for licensed Electricians, within the unit. These roles are based at the Reginal Operations Centre (ROC) at Eagle Farm. The positions will perform various duties as Maintenance Electricians, ensuring that Council’s electrical systems are maintained to comply with legislative standards.

Trade Services carries out a wide range of electrical and data work across all Brisbane City Council facilities. The work is diverse in nature. Due to the locations of the work to be undertaken there can be a lot of driving which requires a valid Class C drivers licence. Work activities start and finish at varied location across Brisbane. To that end the role includes the use of a vehicle to allow for efficient scheduling of work activities. 

Responsibilities:

  • electrical services and maintenance using appropriate methods and equipment in accordance with industry best practice
  • maintain records to ensure current and accurate information is kept in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • undertake a quality assessment of all work completed on site
  • forward plan to ensure that all stores and material items are ordered and maintained to ensure productivity levels
  • participate in the delivery of on-the-job training in conjunction with supervisors/trainers and ensure the correct operations and safety procedures are followed.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • current Electrical Work Licence of an Electrical Mechanic or equivalent
  • current Data Cablers Licence (desirable)
  • CPR Certificate - HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • C class drivers’ licence
  • have a strong commitment to Zero Harm.
