The Role

 We’re looking for an experienced Arboriculture Operations Coordinator to support the effective management of Brisbane’s tree assets and lead the delivery of high‑quality arboriculture services across the city.

In this role, you’ll provide indirect leadership to internal arboriculture field teams and external service providers, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with Council’s policies, standards and strategic objectives.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will champion Council’s values and drive performance excellence. You’ll work closely with supervisors, technical officers and stakeholders to resolve complex arboriculture issues, develop strategic tree management programs and support positive customer experiences.

The role also involves managing budgets, preparing reports, overseeing operational workflows, contributing to contract development and ensuring work programs are delivered on time and to the required quality.

You will build strong relationships with internal teams, community groups, industry partners, government agencies and members of the public to facilitate consultation and resolve local arboriculture matters. You’ll also oversee the scheduling of notifications, preparation of job briefs, commissioning of service providers and the updating of asset data.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated capability aligned with Council’s Leadership Blueprint supporting performance excellence and a values‑based team culture
  • proven ability to lead team direction, exchange constructive feedback and consistently achieve agreed performance standards
  • well‑developed experience in urban arboriculture management, with the ability to resolve complex operational arboriculture issues
  • experience in developing and maintaining tree assets, including scheduling and delivering annual arboriculture work programs
  • demonstrated experience managing recurrent budgets for tree asset maintenance, including overseeing internal delivery costs and preparing budget submissions
  • highly developed customer service skills, with strong written and verbal communication capabilities, including negotiation, liaison and effective public consultation
  • possession of a White Card
  • Certificate III in Arboriculture, along with sound knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Public Land and Council Assets Local Law Act 2014
