The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging urban design professional to contribute to projects, policies and initiatives that shape the future of Brisbane.

As an Urban Designer, you will support the preparation and implementation of urban design proposals, master plans and policy initiatives across the city. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to strategic projects, design guidance, consultation activities and design-led outcomes that help create great places for people. You will coordinate project activities, engage with stakeholders and work collaboratively across Council to deliver high-quality urban design outcomes.

This position is a hands-on role within the team. You will be contributing to the delivery of projects and programs, developing urban design solutions, supporting policy implementation, undertaking consultation activities and helping bring design ideas into reality.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience applying urban design principles to projects, policies, strategies or place-based initiatives
  • strong skills in production of drawings, visuals and communication materials, including Adobe Creative cloud. Skills in 3D modelling favourable.
  • ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams and build effective stakeholder relationships
  • experience supporting the delivery of urban design projects from planning through to implementation
  • strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to agreed timeframes
  • well-developed communication, consultation and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to achieving outcomes.
