Our Branch is Development Services and we play a key role in facilitating Brisbane’s growth so our unique, subtropical capital continues to offer quality of life for visitors and residents.
Our branch is the destination for applications relating to development, including engineering and plumbing and environmental impact. We have an amazing team of dedicated, passionate and service focused professionals who have our residents, building construction industry and communities at the heart of what they do.
The Role - As an Environmental Management Officer you will be responsible for assessing technical reports around noise, air, stormwater quality, hazardous goods and Geotech. We are looking for someone with experience in applying best practice with environmental management in assessing development applications against Council’s Planning Scheme City Plan 2014, including the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and Planning Act 2016.
This is a very busy and highly demanding role. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your excellent customer service skills engaging with key stakeholders to provide environmental advice while work within a dynamic and enthusiastic team.
To be successful you will:
· provide high quality professional advice and applying best practice in environmental management in assessing applications
· demonstrate experience in contributing to the assessment of development applications in a complex legislative environment
· have the ability to develop and maintain relationships, influence and make decisions in a sensitive, complex environment
· demonstrate experience in rapidly acquiring a high-level understanding of legislation and Council policy and processes
· have proven experience in negotiating and delivering written and oral communication and demonstrating interpersonal skills
· be able to manage competing priorities, high level of organisation skills and to work collaboratively with other work areas
A degree qualification in Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other relevant discipline is highly regarded.
