Public Space Operations is a service delivery, customer focused and commercially driven business that prides itself on keeping Brisbane’s streets and public spaces clean, green and safe for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
The Role
The Urban Cleansing Officer helps keep public spaces clean, safe and well‑maintained across the city. The role includes hands‑on work, operating vehicles and equipment, and working as part of a team to deliver reliable services to the community.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- cleaning malls, tunnels and road corridors, including street furniture, public toilets and litter bins
- collecting litter, removing graffiti and responding to hazards such as spills, broken lids, glass and storm debris
- operating trucks, sweepers, scrubbers and other plant and equipment, including basic checks and maintenance
- carrying out general labouring tasks in a safe and efficient way
- setting up worksites and maintaining good housekeeping each day.
The role requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork and customer service:
- follow all workplace health and safety, environmental and Council requirements
- work cooperatively with the Team Leader and team members to meet agreed standards
- treat all customers and colleagues with honesty, fairness, respect and dignity.
To be successful you will have:
- proven ability to drive and operate specialised cleansing vehicles
- experience in the safe and effective use of a diverse range of machinery, tools and equipment
- sound knowledge of, and ability to apply, Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures
- ability to undertake basic labouring and urban cleansing tasks, such as mall cleaning and sweeper operation
- strong teamwork skills, including the ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive constructive feedback, and achieve agreed performance standards to support a culture of performance excellence
- have a valid MR licence
- have a valid Construction card (white card).
