The Community Facilities branch is an integral part of Council’s portfolio, as it delivers cemetery and crematoria services to the residents of Brisbane across a range of locations including Hemmant, Lutwyche, Mount Gravatt, Toowong and Pinnaroo (Bridgeman Downs).

About the role

As Customer Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our cemetery services and be a first point of call to visitors in-person, over the phone and via email. You will interact frequently with a wide range of customers from culturally diverse backgrounds at any of our cemetery locations mentioned above, providing them with exceptional customer service, as they navigate funerary planning and services.

In this role, you will also support the administrative operations of the cemetery site you are located at; interacting with families, funeral directors and head office responding to queries, booking appointments, maintaining accurate record keeping, assisting in the sales of cemetery and crematoria services and products and other administrative duties in support of the wider team as directed.

The average work day for this position is busy and varied and will see you interacting with internal and external stakeholders. This requires an adaptable personality and someone who can handle on-the-spot change and reprioritise their work effectively without feeling overwhelmed. The role is suited to individuals who are are customer service oriented and like to interact with the public, providing consistent empathetic communication and personal resiliency - as you are dealing with customers often experiencing grief. 

You will work across each of our cemetery locations as. Our rosters cover our core operating hours of 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Weekend overtime opportunities are also available.

To be successful in the role of Customer Liaison Officer you will have:

  • A strong customer service focus and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate cross-culturally, with empathy and resilience.
  • Great organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to balance changing priorities effectively to meet business outcomes
  • Good skills in operating MS Office and database management.
  • The ability to liaise with a range of key stakeholders maturely and operate in a team spirit, providing administrative assistance where required.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations yet maintain a consistent approach to providing cemetery and crematoria services across all of our operational sites.

Note: This role requires a valid ‘C’ class driver licence and Criminal History Check for preferred candidates.
