Infrastructure Services brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities. Construction is responsible for delivering a range of infrastructure projects, such as civil construction and road network maintenance. The Construction branch carries out essential activities including asphalt production, paving, and overseeing major projects.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Construction Planner Estimator to support the planning and delivery of civil infrastructure maintenance projects across Brisbane. In this role, you will prepare cost estimates, develop work programs, and help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard. Working closely with Delivery and Construction Managers and operational teams, you will play an important role in planning and delivering infrastructure works that support the city’s growing needs.

You will also provide practical technical and commercial advice to improve cost efficiency and service outcomes, while contributing to proposals and tenders. As a key point of contact, you will build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders and support projects through their full lifecycle. This role suits someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, and wants to make a real contribution to infrastructure services across Brisbane.

To be successful you will have:

  • the ability to work well in a team, contribute to shared goals, and support a positive, high- performing culture
  • strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare accurate estimates and clearly define project scope
  • experience developing and managing cost estimates, including tracking costs and handling variations
  • proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, clients and suppliers
  • clear written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and presenting information to a range of audiences
  • knowledge and experience in civil construction and maintenance practices

Experience using systems such as Microsoft Project, Project Insite, SAP or similar tools would be desirable but not mandatory.
