Infrastructure Services plays a critical role in preserving, maintaining and enhancing Brisbane’s extensive asset portfolio, including the city's road network, bridges, footpaths, parks and urban forest. Through major project delivery, network management and long-term asset planning, the Group is helping prepare Brisbane for 2032 while building a lasting legacy.

Our Branch

Our Fleet Management team plays a vital role in keeping Brisbane moving. We provide end-to-end management of Council's diverse fleet assets, ensuring the right vehicles and equipment are available, safe, reliable and ready to support essential services across the city.

With a fleet ranging from passenger vehicles and heavy trucks through to boats, excavators, road sweepers, generators, mowers and specialised equipment, no two days are the same.

What We Do

We manage the full lifecycle of Council fleet assets, including:

• Fleet procurement
• Maintenance, repairs and modifications
• Fleet optimisation and utilisation
• Temporary hire coordination
• Corporate carpool management
• Fuel management
• Asset disposal

 Our work directly supports frontline services that help make Brisbane a clean, safe and liveable city.

About the Role

As an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will work alongside skilled tradespeople to learn the repair, maintenance, and servicing of heavy vehicles, plant, and equipment. You will develop practical mechanical skills, learn industry best practices, and contribute to a team committed to safety, quality, and excellent customer service.

What You'll Be Doing

• assisting with the repair, servicing, and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment
• learning safe and effective workshop practices within a Zero Harm environment
• working closely with experienced mechanics and supervisors to develop your trade skills
• participating in a supportive team environment while building your technical knowledge and experience.
