Community and the Arts Services is a unique group that provides a diverse range of services such as sport and recreation programs arts and community development. Our group builds wellbeing, belonging and connection across Brisbane. We are made up of 2 branches, Sport and Recreation and Arts & Community Development.
The Sport and Recreation Branch plays a key role in supporting active, healthy and connected communities across Brisbane. Council’s Sport and Recreation Programs team provides programs for the community aimed at increasing the participation of residents in sport and recreation. Council is currently expanding its community offerings and will be launching the Move Well Brisbane program to residents in late 2026. The program currently exists as the Active and Healthy program.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and community-focused Senior Program Coordinator to develop and deliver health and wellbeing programs across Brisbane. In this role, you will work to provide a range of participation opportunities in active and healthy activities across Council venues including parks, pools and halls. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide high-quality programs for the community.
You will also contribute to program promotion and communication activities, provide advice on trends and opportunities, and support continuous improvement of services. As part of a collaborative team, you will build strong stakeholder relationships, mentor others, and help deliver meaningful outcomes for the community. This role suits someone who is organised and proactive and wants to make a positive impact across Brisbane communities.
To be successful you will have:
- the ability to contribute positively to a team environment and demonstrate leadership through your actions
- experience coordinating community programs and projects
- the ability to identify community and social priorities and develop practical, inclusive program responses
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- proven ability to build relationships and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program outcomes
- demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting team members
- experience in program or project management, including managing budgets, timelines, contracts and resources
- a current C class driver licence
Desirable:
- Experience using Council systems such as TRUMBA, Content Manager and Optimise
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and an understanding of working in a local government environment
