Our Business
Infrastructure Services Group brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.
Our Branch
Transport Assets and Operations (TAO) has a key role to play in planning and maintaining Council's transport network and in implementing the Transport Plan for Brisbane to enable the efficient and sustainable movement of people and freight.
We are all about keeping Brisbane moving, whether that's by using our road network or riding, walking or scooting along one of our many bikeways and shared paths.
The Role
This role focuses on investigating and resolving a high volume of day‑to‑day transport network issues across Brisbane, with a strong emphasis on customer service and value‑for‑money outcomes. You’ll plan and develop practical traffic and parking solutions, provide clear technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, and ensure timely responses to community and Council requests relating to the transport network.
Working closely with engineers, planners, field services, councillors and the community, you’ll contribute to local area traffic management schemes, corridor studies and street improvement projects. The role suits someone who enjoys problem‑solving, balancing technical standards with community needs, and making a visible, positive impact on how people and goods move safely and efficiently around Brisbane.
To be successful you will have:
- experience investigating and resolving transport network issues in a high‑volume operational environment
- sound knowledge of traffic management, road classification, transport legislation, standards and guidelines
- strong customer service and consultation skills, with the ability to work effectively with the community and councillors
- clear written and verbal communication skills to provide technical advice to non‑technical audiences
- well‑developed time management and problem‑solving skills to meet targets and priorities.
Benefits of working for Council include:
- flexible working hours, and flexible arrangements
