Our Branch - Natural Environment, Water & Sustainability
NEWS plays an important role in managing Brisbane's natural environment, open spaces, parklands, and waterways that help define our subtropical lifestyle. NEWS is a diverse group of planners, engineers, scientists, project managers, communication and engagement specialists and support people.
The Role
The Environment Centre Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Environment Centre’s Education programs delivered both on and off site. You will be responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of environmental learning activities and materials, which include curricula and behaviour change outcomes to school and community groups.You will lead a dynamic team and ensure an innovative and high standard of visitor engagement at the three Environment Centres.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture.
- demonstrated knowledge of the principles of environmental learning and demonstrated experience in the delivery of environmental based programs that include curricular outcomes on time and within scope and budget.
- demonstrated experience in the coordination including development, promotion, monitoring and review of environmental learning and experience programs to achieve program outcomes.
- demonstrated experience in strategic planning and working in collaboration with partners in relation to environmental communication and engagement.
- demonstrated experience in the provision of excellent customer service, high level of interpersonal skills, and proven ability to liaise and communicate effectively and create and maintain partnerships with a wide range of customers and stakeholders
- excellent written communication skills and demonstrated experience in the production of reports, strategic plans and briefing notes
- excellent time management and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise high-volume workload to achieve deadlines and desired outcomes.
This role will require a C class drivers license and Working safely with Children Check
