Traffic Network Services (TNS) are experts in the construction and maintenance of Traffic Signal and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) infrastructure throughout Brisbane City Council. This includes Traffic Monitoring Cameras, Variable Message Signs (VMS), fibre optic infrastructure and Council’s own ITS communications network.
The Role
An exciting opportunity to perform installation and testing of traffic signal network communications equipment across Brisbane, in the field and workshop, in a 24/7 operational environment. You will also modify software configurations and firmware for ITS Network devices, basic network design, fault diagnosis and repair of the network-based communications system. You will bring your motivation and experience to provide technical support, analysis and reporting for ongoing project work across a variety of stakeholders to support the Brisbane community.
Your knowledge of Cisco networks and your ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team, across various locations, with interest in problem solving will be highly regarded.
Industry accreditation in data networking as a CISCO Certified CCNA is desirable.
A requirement of this role is to participate in an on-call roster, one week in every three, paid accordingly, with access to a Council vehicle as required.
To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated knowledge and experience in data communications networks, specifically in a large switched and routed IP network
- knowledge of various communications transmission media, Fibre Optic equipment, Wireless data equipment and serial data communications protocols
- analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to develop strategies, identify risks, resolve issues and make recommendations
- experience in preparing quotations and reports, liaising and negotiating with a variety of stakeholders
- a C class licence is mandatory for this role
- a work safely in the construction industry, White Card, is mandatory for this role.
