Our Branch
Support Services provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. The efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery.
Employee Services is part of Support Services and is made up of two core functions – Recruitment and Payroll . We work together to ensure accurate, timely pay and employee lifecycle support across Council.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-driven, customer-focused Payroll Practitioner to join our payroll team. You’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to ensure that all Council employees are paid correctly and on time, as well as provide support to the team in functions such as payroll, superannuation, and absence administration.
As a Payroll Practitioner, you will maintain services standards and procedures to ensure high-volume payroll activities are actioned in accordance with internal and legislative requirements. You will work closely with the Payroll Team Leader to contribute to continuous improvement within the team and serve as a trusted point of contact for payroll-related queries.
To be successful you will have:
- experience conducting payroll processes within a large and complex organisation
- demonstrated ability to perform end to end payroll activities including preparing and processing high volume transactions with a focus on accuracy
- experience in researching and applying legislative requirements as to business rules and processes.
- ability to provide feedback to other team members around technical or routine business requirements.
- good communication, interpersonal and customer and stakeholder relationship skills
- ability to provide advice and problem solve on a wide range of payroll issues
- good organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
