City Legal is a specialist provider of cost-effective legal services, adding value to Council's core business and major projects. The City Legal team sit within the City Administration and Governance division of Council and is well known for its progressive, collegial, and service-focused delivery of specialist advice work and documentation that makes a positive difference to the city of Brisbane and its people.
The Role
The Senior Paralegal – Litigation, Risk and Enforcement provides specialist, high level paralegal services, to the Litigation, Risk and Enforcement Team at City Legal.
This role will specialise within litigation stream. You would work closely with our lawyers playing a critical role in managing and organising legal cases with a focus on handling minor civil claims and debt recovery.
You will show drive and willingness to maintain the overall efficiencies and effectiveness of the legal team, ultimately contributing to successful litigation and dispute resolution outcomes.
Minimal supervision will be required when it comes to undertaking complex paralegal duties. You will have the ability to utilise your strong problem-solving skills to drive the progress of minor civil claims and debt recovery matters with the support and under the supervision of solicitors with the team.
You will truly enjoy working in a supportive, fast-paced environment whilst being challenged and rewarded with the variation in work of being able to run your own matters with appropriate support and supervision.

You will have considerable knowledge, experience, and confidence as a paralegal providing support for a busy legal office and a proven understanding and ability to drive the progressof minor claims and debt recovery. You will demonstrate an ability to manage conflicting demands, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines along with a strong customer focus and a high level of communication skill.

To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated high level paralegal experience
- proven experience in conducting minor legal matters under supervision
- knowledge of legal procedures, legal documents, legal terminology, and relevant legislation
- experience with minimal supervision in preparing legal documentation and correspondence relevant to litigation matters in the QCAT, Magistrates Court, District Court or Supreme Court
- high level of customer service
- well-developed independent critical thinking
- demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills
- proven research, analysis and problem-solving skills
- ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
