Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) delivers Council’s asset management, planning, design, construction, maintenance and transport operations. Within ISG, Public Space Operations maintains Brisbane’s parks, roadside corridors and community spaces. About the role
As Turf Management Team Leader, you will lead a hands‑on crew responsible for maintaining and developing Brisbane’s high profile botanic garden turf spaces. This specialised role will be responsible for managing 2 hectares of turf including high profile public display areas, cylinder mowing and striping, managing weed and pest disease control.
As a Team Leader you will have demonstrated capability in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture.
You will coordinate daily work programs, mentor staff, ensure safe work practices, manage customer requests and deliver greenspace services to agreed service levels. Your ability to problem solve in the field, plan ahead, and foster effective working relationships will be key to your success.
As Team Leader Turf Management Mt Coot-tha you will:
- have experience in the coordination of horticultural turf maintenance and development practices for high profile turf displays, including the use of a diverse range of horticultural techniques, machinery and tools.
- have experience supervising staff and coordinating a team, including facilitating team decision making and experience in resolving conflicts.
- have the ability to prepare and produce maintenance schedules, field reports and keep records relevant to botanical gardens maintenance and development.
- have competent written and oral communication skills to coordinate work teams and contractors to undertake general maintenance and parkland development projects.
- have strong knowledge of and the ability to apply Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures as required.
Mandatory requirements:
- C Class driver licence
- Commercial Operators Spray License (Unrestricted ACDC)
- Level III Certificate in Horticulture – Turf Management (or equal qualification/trade)
