Our Branch
Waste and Resource Recovery Services (WaRRS) branch delivers waste management, resource recovery, litter prevention and waste minimisation initiatives for Brisbane residents.
WaRRS aims to provide essential bin collection services for Brisbane and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
WaRRS manages contracts for waste and recycling bin collection, waste disposal, green waste and dead animal collection. They also help to build a cleaner, greener city by encouraging waste minimisation and recycling through a range of education initiatives and community involvement.
The Role
WaRRS is looking for an experienced Senior Contract Manager to join our Resource Recovery team. In this role, you’ll provide expert contract management support across Council’s Waste Alliance, disposal and resource recovery contracts, helping to ensure strong performance, compliance and value for money.
You’ll work closely with a supportive and knowledgeable team, managing and contributing to a range of complex contracts, supporting procurement activities, and helping to deliver innovative and sustainable waste management solutions for our city.

To be successful you will have:
- proven experience managing complex, high value service contracts.
- experience in waste, resource recovery, infrastructure or similar sectors
- a strong understanding of council procurement frameworks, contract principles and governance requirements.
- the ability to manage risk, negotiate effectively and influence senior stakeholders.
- Well-developed analytical skills, including experience preparing decision support models and business cases.
- ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and preferred suppliers.
