Public Space Operations delivers the day-to-day maintenance and enhancement of Council’s parks, landscapes and public spaces. Our work is practical, community-facing and essential to maintaining Brisbane’s reputation as a city of open space and natural beauty.
The Role
As a Greenspace Team Leader, you will lead a small field-based team delivering vegetation management, horticultural and maintenance services across Brisbane’s parks, roadsides and natural areas. With a focus on habitat conservation, you will help protect and enhance the city’s green spaces.
Day-to-day, you will coordinate daily work programs, manage resources and customer requests, and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with operational standards. The role also involves mentoring staff, providing technical guidance, maintaining records and equipment and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
To be successful you will have:
- experience leading small operational field teams in horticulture, maintenance, construction or similar environments
- a Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent) and/or substantial practical experience in parks or roadside landscape maintenance and habitat conservation.
- the ability to plan and deliver work programs using people, plant and materials to meet timeframes and service expectations
- sound knowledge of safe work practices, WHS requirements and environmental responsibilities in a field‑based setting
- the ability to issue clear work instructions and communicate effectively with team members, customers and stakeholders
- competent written skills to prepare basic operational correspondence, reports and work records
- experience using computer systems such as MS Office and field‑based workforce system
Mandatory:
- Current MR (truck) licence and ACDC Commercial Operator’s Licence
