Public Transport Services is a group that brings together Commercial and Contract Services, Engineering and Asset Management, Strategy and Network Services and Transport Operations. Together, these branches help keep our city moving. Whether by bus, CityCat or ferry, e-bike or e-scooter, and Metro, our group manages bus contracts with Translink, ferry, e-mobility scheme and personalised public transport operators, that enable us to support the transport choices of Brisbane residents and visitors.
Our Branch
The Engineering and Asset Management Branch is responsible for bus maintenance (both first-line at depots and second-line at Toowong Workshops), establishing and managing fleet maintenance policies, procuring fleet assets, maintaining electrical charging infrastructure, investigating incidents, managing non-bus assets and facilities, overseeing major projects, and coordinating IT requirements for the division.
The Role
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Quality Officer to help maintain the safety, reliability and performance of our bus fleet.
In this role, you’ll support high maintenance standards by auditing work, identifying issues, and ensuring compliance with set procedures. You’ll also play a key part in improving practices, training staff, and supporting safety outcomes across the depot.
What you’ll be doing:
- carrying out audits and fleet safety checks to ensure compliance with maintenance standards
- identifying maintenance issues, conducting diagnostics, and recommending solutions
- supporting and assessing the capability of maintenance staff, including providing on-the-job training
- contributing to the development and improvement of maintenance practices and procedures
- investigating safety and maintenance issues and supporting continuous improvement of safety systems
- managing small projects and providing expert advice to depot management
- sharing important maintenance updates and ensuring teams have access to key information
- working both independently and as part of a team to meet operational outcomes
- supporting a 24/7 operation, including participating in rosters and occasional overtime
To be successful, you will need:
- ability to work collaboratively, give and receive feedback, and contribute to strong team performance
- experience assessing staff skills and providing practical training
- proven ability to conduct audits and safety checks against set standards
- strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in a maintenance environment
- ability to analyse data and use insights to improve operations
- good time management and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines
- strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- ability to engage and work effectively with a range of stakeholders
- experience using systems and applications such as SAP, Records Manager, and Microsoft Office
- possession of a Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Body or Electrical trade or similar
- possession of a current HR class driver’s licence.
