The role

The Program Director Civil and Transport is a key executive and role in the Project Management branch providing strategic and technical expertise in the delivery of civil and transport programs and projects. This role provides leadership to project management professionals working in high performing teams to drive the planning and delivery of civil and transport infrastructure projects enhancing community connectivity and liveability shaping Brisbane's future.

As Program Director, you will lead the delivery of critical infrastructure projects, including roadworks, transport corridors, intersections, bikeways, and bridges, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and compliance standards. Critical to success is the engagement and collaboration with the team, stakeholders across Council, and external providers. You will require excellent engagement and communications skills to build and maintain strong partnerships with program partners, asset owners, consultants, government agencies, and branches across Council.

We are looking for a leader who can foster and build a culture of safety and resilience, who can innovate, and inspire a continual improvement mindset in individuals and teams. A professional with a proven track record in delivery and able to deliver essential programs, projects and services across Council for the people of Brisbane.

To be considered, you must have the following:

  • extensive experience in delivering civil and transport infrastructure projects
  • proven leadership experience in a large-scale civil and transport business
  • proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams
  • strong forward planning and innovation skills to achieve fit-for-purpose outcomes
  • track record in process improvement and driving efficiencies
  • experience in promoting safety and environmental compliance
  • proven ability to build high-performance teams and manage workforce planning.

Essential Qualifications:

  • tertiary qualifications in Civil or Transport Engineering
  • tertiary qualifications in project management
  • professional membership with AIPM or Engineers Australia.

 AIPM Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) or eligibility to achieve CPPD within 12 months is highly desirable.

Project Management branch provides leadership and accountability in Project and Contract Management delivery. Providing expertise and project management services in civil, transport, civic, building and natural environment infrastructure and assets. The branch is responsible for the overall delivery of projects and providing a diversity of services to assist asset owners.
