Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.

Our Branch

Construction is a diverse branch with services ranging from Environment Centres, maintaining Council owned roads, footpath, drain networks and maintaining the city’s parks and trees.

We play a critical role in ensuring Council’s assets are fit for purpose and provide opportunities for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy Brisbane.

The branch has staff located across the city with functional lines that coordinate maintenance and upgrades to a range of Council’s assets including roads, structures, drain network system, parks, natural areas, park and street trees. We are also the customer interface of City Standards.

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for one permanent full-time Traffic Signal Technician to join our Construction team based at ROC – Regional Operations Centre in Eagle Farm.

The role will support management in the delivery of civil engineering assets as part of a team of technical and professional staff.

The role requires a competent professional in the electrical works associated to one or more of the work areas at Traffic Network Services (TNS): traffic signals construction, traffic signal maintenance, traffic signal controller build, street lighting, closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) and other Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) installations.

To be successful you will have:

· ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence

· knowledge of, and the ability to apply, the relevant Workplace Health and Safety Act, Electrical Safety Act, and Electrical Wiring rules

· demonstrated ability to interpret instructions and engineering drawings

· proven ability to work from ladders, at heights and in confined spaces

· demonstrated experience in electrical construction and maintenance activities in an operational and commercial environment

· ability to work autonomously or in a team environment, including providing guidance and support to apprentices.

Hold a nationally accredited open communications cabling registration licence and hold an 11 metre or greater Elevated Work Platform ticket and possession of a current open “MR” Class driver’s licence are desirable but not mandatory.

This role will require completion of a full pre-placement medical and functional assessment and a Criminal History Check.

In addition, this role requires a C class driver’s licence, an Electrical Workers licence and “Work safely in the construction industry” (White Card or equivalent).
