The Role

As the Capability Development Officer, you will support the development of a resilient, responsive and capable Disaster Management Workforce for Council. This role contributes to the development, implementation and delivery of the Disaster Management Workforce Plan, capability projects and learning and development programs to support Council’s disaster response and recovery plans.

In addition, this role builds and maintains collaborative liaison between Disaster Operations and internal and external stakeholders, service providers and sector partners to build the disaster response and recovery capability of Council’s workforce. 

To be successful you will have :

  • the ability to contribute to team direction and achieve agreed performance standards.
  • demonstrated experience in facilitating workforce capability development and learning initiatives to meet business outcomes in a customer focused organisation
  • demonstrated knowledge and relevant experience in project management
  • analytical and strategic skills including the ability to analyse business issues and develop, plan, and implement strategies for improvements to processes, systems and services including risk and quality assurance processes
  • highly developed verbal, written, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively communicate and liaise with all levels of stakeholders
  • flexibility to travel to off-site meetings and availability to work a rotating roster which includes after hours/weekends responding to calls and queries.
