Work type: Temporary full-time

Duration: Fixed term contract until the next quadrennial election of March 2028 with the possibility of an extension.

Location: Brisbane City Council - Brisbane Square Office (on-site)

This role will require the successful candidate to work Tuesday nights when Council is in session.


Our Business

The Governance Council and Committee Services branch is responsible for providing administrative and policy support to the Ward Offices to help achieve the best outcomes for the community. 

The Role

An opportunity exists for a dynamic, 'switched on', customer-focused Personal Assistant to provide direct support to the City Standard's Civic Cabinet Chair’s Office. City Standards provides high quality and value for money construction, maintenance and services to Brisbane ratepayers. With over 1900 employees across 7 branches, the work undertaken by the City Standards teams plays a big part in enhancing Brisbane's liveability.

As Personal Assistant to the Civic Cabinet Chair of City Standards, this role will see you manage a complex diary, handle sensitive and confidential information, prepare and coordinate correspondence and documentation whilst providing a proactive high standard of administrative support to the Chair of the Committee. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in staying across all the necessary details, projects and agenda in the Chair’s office with the ability to summarise, escalate when necessary and brief key stakeholders when required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • managing diary requests and the Councillor’s schedule
  • processing incoming and outgoing correspondence within a digital environment
  • highly developed communication, interpersonal and written communication skills, including proof-reading and copywriting
  • highly developed computer literacy in Microsoft office, including word processing, software presentation and ability to learn new software quickly
  • ability to liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • good understanding of social media platforms and content creation
  • highly developed problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
  • excellent prioritisation, time management and organisational skills
  • providing a high standard of administrative support and assistance.
  • drafting, publishing and scheduling social media posts
