Salary Range: (Band 7) AUD $123,340 to $134,848 per annum + 14% superannuation + benefits

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

The Strategic Procurement Office (SPO) sources and manages contracts and Council's procurement of goods, services and works in a way that delivers the best outcomes for Brisbane. 

The Roles:

Two permanent opportunities are available for Senior Category Specialists. One position sits in the Construction and Operations team and will focus on the parks, gardens and quarry contracts. The other sits in the ICT team and will focus on the Security Management and Geospatial Information System (GIS) categories, along with other key council ICT contracts and technology suppliers.

Senior Category Specialists are responsible for leading and developing resources, providing expertise and strategic leadership in category management for high risk, high value contracts and strategic suppliers for specific assigned categories. We are looking for procurement professional who can think laterally and collaborate with internal customers to lead Council’s procurement processes. These are an exceptional opportunity to show your expertise in our complex organisation, working with a diverse range of stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement in procurement practices at Council.

You will be responsible for a range of corporate procurement arrangements, involving all aspects of the procurement lifecycle, from strategy, planning, and sourcing, through contractor on-boarding, to ongoing supplier management and internal stakeholder support.

Key focus areas include: 

  • collaboration with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to manage a high volume of work
  • strategic sourcing including spend and financial analysis
  • negotiation, formation and management of contracts and supplier agreements
  • value chain optimisation analysis
  • demand management, contract management and supplier relationship management
  • input for procurement policy and procedures
