Our Branch
Public Space Operations is responsible for the day-to-day care, presentation and functionality of some of Brisbane’s most visible and highly used open spaces. The branch takes pride in practical, high-quality work and strong teamwork, with a focus on safety, environmental responsibility and customer service.
The Role
As a Greenkeeper, you will assist in the day-to-day preparation, maintenance and presentation of the golf course to ensure it is maintained to Australian golf course standards. This is a practical, field-based role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating specialised machinery and taking pride in the quality of their work.
You will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and broader team to carry out routine and non-routine maintenance activities, support construction and renovation works, and contribute to a safe and efficient workplace. The role also involves assisting with the coordination of work activities and providing on-the-job guidance to apprentices or other team members when required.
Key responsibilities include:
- carrying out golf course maintenance and construction activities using appropriate tools, machinery and techniques
- operating and maintaining specialised turf machinery and renovation equipment in line with manufacturer specifications
- operating and maintaining computerised irrigation systems
- preparing and applying chemicals in accordance with relevant legislation, safety requirements and environmental guidelines
- completing required documentation, including maintenance checks, incident reports and spray records
- supporting supervisors with the coordination of daily work activities and maintaining agreed performance standards
- working safely at all times and contributing to Council’s Zero Harm culture.
To be successful you will have:
- demonstrated experience in golf course or turf maintenance, including the operation and maintenance of relevant equipment and machinery
- experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems
- demonstrated experience in the preparation and application of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides
- the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide guidance or leadership when required
- good written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer-focused approach
- qualifications in horticulture or turf management at Certificate III level or above, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- a current ACDC commercial spray operator's licence
- a current C class driver licence
- a White Card and
