The Role  

As Technical Officer Arboriculture the primary purpose of this role is to provide technical advice on arboriculture asset management issues to senior staff and external customers. The role also provides field support to internal Arboriculture teams in developing and delivering tree maintenance programs across Brisbane.  

Specific duties in this role involves:  

  • Carry out inspections and investigations, and where no specialist equipment is required, complete the job, or prepare job briefs, as well as conduct reactive and proactive tree inspections to minimise risk to the public and ensure appropriate formative maintenance of tree assets to ensure longevity of asset.  
  • Undertake inspections and provide arboriculture reports and estimates in accordance with the appropriate Australian Standards.  
  • Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers by resolving customer requests, work as part of the Arboriculture team to manage the needs of the policy area and assist in disaster recovery operations; such as storm events by conducting tree risk assessments to identify and prioritise work lists for maintenance crews.  

To be considered for this position, you will need to have:  

  • Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with challenging customers to resolve problems.  
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting detailed tree condition and risk assessment inspections.  
  • Demonstrated planning, prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet competing demands and deadlines whilst working autonomously.  
  • Possession of a current "C" Class Drivers License 
  • Minimum Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent 

Desirable  

  • Possession of a Certificate V or Diploma in Arboriculture (Horticulture) or equivalent experience.  

This role may require a Criminal History Check. You may be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment to assess your ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the role.
