The Branch

Support Services branch works with stakeholders to deliver a range of services to Council through the execution and handling of financial management and operational tasks and processes from a centralised team to drive efficiencies, reduce costs, improve performance yields, and leverage automation and optimise processes for high volume services.

The Role

The Performance Optimisation Manager leads a team which continuously develop, manage, and deliver and sustain the Financial Management and Operations program of work to meet Council’s strategic vision.

Partnering with the Financial Management and Operations leadership team and key stakeholders you will drive the improvement and efficiency agenda on the operational performance of finance processes to enhance visibility of quality service delivery.

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on partnering, customer service, cost effectiveness, quality, and risk management. We are looking for a forward-thinking and collaborative leader ready to influence and create an impact in Financial Management and Operations.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a highly professional team and function, drive innovation, and to influence management and stakeholders across Council to make a real difference in the financial management function.

In this role you will:

  • manage the development and delivery of the Financial Management and Operations strategic, tactical and operational improvement initiatives
  • provide project management oversight, strategic advice, and planning the long-term strategy
  • develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant issues, opportunities, trends and impacts
  • provide advice and recommendations to the Manager, Financial Management and Operations and other leadership members 
  • coordinate and manage the delivery of expert technical and business advice
  • establish, communicate, and monitor Financial Management and Operations process metrics, key performance indicators, and data analytics.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint
  • highly developed interpersonal, consultation, partnering and negotiation skills
  • proven ability and experience working with stakeholders at all levels
  • significant experience providing high quality professional advice, interpretation, and information
  • significant experience in working in enterprise project environments
  • well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
