Salary Range: Band 7 $132,572 - $144,942 + Superannuation 

(Remuneration stated is for full-time positions) 

Number of positions:  Multiple - 1 x Permanent Full-time and 2 x Temporary Full-time positions in Industrial Relations and Advice and 1 x Temporary Full-time position in HR Delivery

Duration: Temporary full-time positions are for up to 12 months

Location: Hybrid – up to 50 percent working from home and remainder of time in Brisbane CBD office

Our Team

The Employee Relations team supports the organisation to confidentiality manage people and employment matters by developing contemporary industrial arrangements, providing strategic industrial advice and support, and building the capability of our leaders to confidentiality manage their employee relations issues.

The team is structured into Industrial Relations and Advice, HR Delivery, Governance and Improvement and Strategy and Business Services. With the team preparing for certified agreement bargaining and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, there are currently multiple permanent and temporary opportunities for Employee Relations Specialists within Industrial Relations and Advice and HR Delivery.

Opportunities in Industrial Relations and Advice (Permanent and Temporary)

In these roles you will:

  • Provide advice and support to leaders and employees in interpreting and applying Council’s industrial instruments, conditions and benefits, rostering arrangements, pay rules, HR procedures and working arrangements
  • work with leaders to explore options within Council’s industrial framework to address their industrial relations and employee relations issues
  • provide advice and support to leaders managing disputes
  • provide advice, support and advocacy relating to disputes, unfair dismissal and stop bullying applications at the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).

Opportunity in HR Delivery (Temporary)

In this role you will:

  • Provide end-to-end strategic case management advice and support to leaders on complex performance, conduct, grievance, absence and fit for role matters
  • identify emerging issues, hot spots and trends to inform the development of appropriate strategic interventions, process improvements and training requirements
  • provide advice and support to leaders managing organisational change processes including organisation designs and realignments
  • build the capability and confidence of leaders to proactively manage their employee relations issues through coaching, advice, insights and delivery of training and support materials.

To be successful you will have: 

  • A high degree of experience in advocacy and management of industrial relations issues or complex human resources case management
  • substantial knowledge of contemporary employee relations issues and strategies, including the ability to interpret and apply industrial frameworks, legislation, principles and HR procedures
  • proven ability to research and analyse employee relations issues, trends and data, to develop insights, appropriate strategies, interventions and strategic solutions
  • highly developed written, oral and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences
  • proven skill and experience in consultation, coaching, influence, negotiation, dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement
  • a collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to prioritise work demands and contribute to team direction.
