Our Branch 

Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) delivers Council’s asset management, planning, design, construction, maintenance and transport operations. Within ISG, Public Space Operations maintains Brisbane’s parks, roadside corridors and community spaces. About the role  

As a Greenspace Team Leader, you will lead a hands‑on crew responsible for maintaining and developing Brisbane’s parks and roadside landscapes. Day-to-day you will be responsible for the coordination and focus of a team of horticultural staff in the delivery of garden and facility maintenance, development projects and horticultural work within the allocated area of Botanic Gardens and High-Profile Parks, including specialised gardens within it. 

To do this you will have demonstrated capability in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture.  

You will also mentor staff, ensure safe work practices, manage customer requests and deliver greenspace services to agreed service levels. Your ability to plan ahead, problem solve effectively and foster effective working relationships will be key to your success. 

As Greenspace Team Leader you will: 

  • have sound knowledge of plant identification and botanical nomenclature. 
  • demonstrated experience in the coordination of horticultural maintenance and development practices for specialised garden displays, including the use of a diverse range of horticultural techniques, machinery and tools. 
  • demonstrated experience supervising staff and coordinating a team, including facilitating team decision making through strong communication skills and experience resolving conflicts. 
  • demonstrated ability to prepare and produce maintenance schedules, written skills to produce field reports and keep records relevant to botanical gardens maintenance and development. 
  • demonstrated ability and knowledge of the safe preparation and application of pesticides using appropriate technology, techniques and application procedures. 

Mandatory requirements: 

  • C Class driver licence  
  • Certificate III Parks & Gardens or equal qualification/trade
