Our Branch
Asphalt and Aggregates oversees the management of Council's quarries and road surfacing operations, including the laying and repair of asphalt pavements, minor pothole repairs and road line marking. The branch consists of three core business units: Road Resurfacing, Asphalt Production and Quarries.
The Role
As the Works Supervisor Road Surfacing, you will manage the delivery of Road Surfacing projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards. In this role, you’ll lead customer‑focused service, set clear performance expectations for teams, and provide regular communication to clients and internal stakeholders. You’ll coordinate project schedules, prepare estimates and programs, support complex projects, and identify risks related to WHS and environmental requirements. The role also includes approving HR documentation for crews and completing essential administrative tasks such as work orders, measure‑ups and billing.
To be successful you will have:
- a strong understanding of safety, environmental and quality standards, with the ability to apply these effectively in an operational work environment
- a proven ability to plan, coordinate and deliver works programs in a commercial setting, achieving high‑quality outcomes and operational efficiency
- well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with customers, staff and key stakeholders
- practical knowledge and hands‑on experience in asphalt laying operations and associated work practices
- solid analytical and computer skills, with the ability to interpret project estimates, scopes and technical requirements
- demonstrated capability in applying technical expertise to deliver civil construction and maintenance services
- demonstrated ability to lead and manage performance by setting clear direction and expectations, providing ongoing support and feedback, and monitoring individual and team outcomes.
A Current C Class driver’s licence is mandatory as a part of this role.
