Brisbane City Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traineeship Pathway Program is a great opportunity to gain experience in a business environment while working towards a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate III in Business).

This traineeship is based with the Investigations & Enforcement team located in Fortitude Valley.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, high-performing business area. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in administration, learn about end-to-end recruitment, and support meaningful initiatives, including projects to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation across the organisation.

About the team – Investigations & Enforcement

The Investigations Team supports Council’s Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) by investigating matters and preparing evidence to support fair and transparent outcomes. The team works across a wide range of legislation and plays an important role in ensuring compliance across the community.

You’ll be part of a specialised team that investigates potential breaches, prepares briefs of evidence, and supports legal processes. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into how Council manages compliance matters and contributes to community safety and fairness.

As a trainee, you’ll support the team with general administration and investigation‑related tasks, including:

  • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of documents for investigation files
  • Supporting the team with administrative tasks related to evidence gathering
  • Updating systems and maintaining accurate records
  • Assisting with coordination of files and documentation for legal processes
  • Providing general administrative support to Investigators and Senior Investigators
  • Supporting the team with communication and coordination across different areas of Council

  • committed to completing your training modules throughout the year.

After completing the traineeship, you’ll have:

  • a nationally recognised qualification (Cert III in Business)
  • practical experience to boost your career
  • skills to apply for roles within Council or beyond.
