About BDL  

Booroongen Djugun Limited (BDL) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation. BDL was founded in consultation with traditional Elders and designed to reflect the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs connected with the traditions and customs of Aboriginal people. BDL continues to operate in alignment with these core foundations to this day providing cultural safe services and employment for all Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Residents, Staff, Clients, and Community.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Provide a high standard of facility cleaning for resident rooms, ensuites and public areas
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are followed on a daily basis or as required
  • Clean a variety of surfaces: vinyl and carpet floor covering, walls, doors, windows, sinks.
  • Attend to laundry duties as directed
  • Respect residents’ belongings and treat with care
  • Maintain strict privacy & dignity in all dealings with residents and staff.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, general hygiene and infection control procedures across all areas.
  • Manage waste appropriately in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the safe usage, care and storage of cleaning equipment
  • Practice appropriate hygiene control
  • Effective time management and organisational skills in order to complete required cleaning duties and delegated tasks
  • Exercise economy and care in the use of facility equipment and supplies and undertake stock control.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, and operating instructions for all equipment and chemicals
  • Ensure health and safety is maintained at all times so far as is reasonably practicable by eliminating risks to health and safety so far as is reasonably practicable.
  • Report and/or document any incidents, whether or not a resident is involved, to immediate supervisor as per policy guidelines.
  • Promote a positive public image for the organisation.
  • Have clear understanding of SIRS and RIs and obligations to report
  • Report and refer all complaints following the feedback and complaints Management and resolution System
  • Report and refer all incidents following the incident management system

  • Willingness and ability to complete the key responsibilities and duties
  • Have an genuine interest in supporting others and treat residents with respect and dignity
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to solve problems independently prioritise workload to meet demands
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Annual Flu Vaccination (Or Exemption)
  • NDIS Worker Clearance
