Lead Safety. Influence Leaders. Drive Meaningful Change.

At Blackwoods, we're more than Australia’s leading provider of industrial and safety supplies—we're part of the Wesfarmers family, operating as a specialty business under Bunnings. With a national footprint supporting critical industries across Australia, we're committed to creating healthier, safer workplaces through strong leadership, innovation and practical risk management.

We're seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner to join our HSW team and play a key role in shaping the future of safety across our business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, this senior role provides strategic HSW leadership across a designated region while contributing to national programs and enterprise-wide initiatives.

You will partner with leaders at all levels to strengthen risk ownership, build leadership capability, and drive the consistent implementation of our Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy.

This is an opportunity to move beyond compliance and help influence how safety is led across a large, diverse and evolving organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partner with leaders to embed a proactive, leader-led approach to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Design, implement and assure national HSW programs aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen management of both critical and psychosocial risks.
  • Use data, insights and assurance outcomes to identify trends, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coach and influence senior leaders to improve risk management capability and accountability.
  • Partner with leaders to proactively manage workplace injuries through effective early intervention strategies and return to work support.
  • Lead or support significant incident investigations and assurance activities.
  • Build strong relationships with operational leaders, regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Challenge traditional ways of working and drive practical, risk-based improvements across the business.

What We're Looking For

You are a strategic and commercially minded HSW professional who enjoys partnering with leaders, influencing change and turning risk insights into meaningful action.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Extensive HSW leadership experience within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary risk management, assurance and governance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide programs and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and creating safer workplaces.

Why Join Blackwoods?

  • Be part of a market-leading Australian business with a strong safety culture.
  • Join a team committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of our people.
  • Work for a Wesfarmers specialty business under Bunnings, backed by one of Australia's most respected corporate groups.
  • Influence enterprise-wide strategy and programs with national impact.
  • Access career development opportunities within the broader Wesfarmers group.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a collaborative, supportive team environment.

Next Steps

If you meet most of the criteria listed above and would like to be considered for this opportunity, please send your application today. We will be contacting suitable candidates as we receive them.
