The Berry Street Yooralla Quality and Risk team holds a large portfolio that spans across the whole organisation. The Quality and Risk portfolio supports the delivery of safe, effective quality services at Berry Street Yooralla. This includes systems that govern quality, audit compliance and risk.

The Opportunity

As the Senior Lead – Investigations and Child Safeguarding, you will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring Berry Street Yooralla’s commitment to child safety is upheld across all services. You’ll lead a team of dedicated investigators within the Child Safeguarding Unit, providing expert guidance, mentoring, and oversight to ensure investigations are thorough, procedurally fair, and trauma-informed.

  • Lead and mentor the Child Safeguarding Unit, ensuring high-quality, procedurally fair investigations.
  • Oversee the allocation and progress of investigations, including complex and historical cases.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to uphold legislative and policy obligations, including mandatory reporting such as the Reportable Conduct Scheme, Social Services Regulations, and the DFFH Client Incident Management System.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safeguarding practices and systems.
  • Act as a key advisor on child safety matters across Berry Street Yooralla, and related entities.

About You

  • Extensive experience in leading investigations, particularly involving vulnerable children and young people.
  • You have a passion for child safety and have a sound understanding of Victorian child safety standards.
  • Keen eye for detail and identifying risk.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act, Reportable Conduct Scheme, Social Services Regulations, and DFFH Client Incident Management System.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and report writing skills.
  • Extensive leadership experience and enjoy working collaboratively within a team.
  • Hold a Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Quality Management, Legal Studies, Compliance and Risk or related field and/or experience in similar field.
  • Hold a NDIS Screening Check
