We are seeking an experienced and values‑driven Head of Data and Analytics to lead the next phase of our data and analytics maturity and help shape how evidence, insight and information support better outcomes for children, families and communities across Victoria.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategy, Technology and Analytics, you will provide strategic leadership for a unified, organisation‑wide data and analytics function, positioning data as a trusted organisational asset to support decision‑making, service improvement, compliance and social impact.
You will play a critical role in supporting a complex, merged organisation through integrated data platforms, strong governance frameworks and uplifted analytics capability.
Key Responsibilities
As Head of Data and Analytics, you will:
- Lead and mature an enterprise data and analytics function aligned to organisational strategy and values
- Develop and implement a whole‑of‑organisation Data and Analytics Strategy, including modern data platforms and architectures
- Establish and embed practical, enterprise‑wide data governance frameworks covering privacy, security, quality and ethical use
- Oversee analytics, reporting and insight delivery to support strategic, operational and service‑level decision‑making
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering an inclusive, high‑performance culture focused on learning and continuous improvement
- Strengthen data literacy and confidence across the organisation through collaboration and capability uplift
- Oversee records management and information release functions, including FOI compliance and trauma‑informed practices
- Build strong partnerships with executives, business leaders, vendors and sector collaborators
About you
You are a strategic, collaborative leader with experience leading enterprise data and analytics functions in complex environments. You communicate with influence and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
You will also bring:
- Proven experience leading data and analytics functions in large or multi‑entity organisations.
- Expertise in modern data architectures (cloud, hybrid, API‑driven environments).
- Strong knowledge of data governance, privacy and security frameworks (e.g. Australian Privacy Principles, ISO 27001, DAMA).
- Experience building and leading high‑performing analytics teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and a calm, flexible approach to competing priorities.
- A strong commitment to ethical data use, inclusion and social impact.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading or transforming a data function
- Extensive experience working within complex systems and vendor environments
