For over 140 years, Berry Street has adapted to a changing world, and we will continue to adapt to achieve our purpose. We believe children, young people and families should be safe, thriving and hopeful. Our Vision for 2026: Together we will courageously change lives and reimagine service systems. We look forward to working with children, young people, families, carers, staff and partners to achieve this vision. Together.
The Opportunity
The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is Berry Street’s world leading trauma-informed strengths-based educational practice approach which provides Australian and international schools (and allied community service organisations) with the training, consultation, curriculum, and strategies to engage the most challenging students. BSEM originates from Berry Street’s 140-year history of supporting vulnerable children to thrive. It is unique because the BSEM equips schools to promote cognitive and behavioural change, thereby engaging the young person in learning and progressing their academic achievement. The Berry Street Education Model is now being shared with early childhood centres, primary and secondary mainstream and specialist schools, and university-based pre-service teacher training cohorts, all who often become longstanding clients over many years.
This new Head of BSEM position has been created to fortify the leadership of BSEM in the context of BSEM’s own growth and maturation as a fee-for-service strategic priority for Berry Street; and to lead BSEM’s senior management team through transformation of sales, operations, program delivery and design to maximise BSEM’s reach and ability to meet the significant demand for our services both in Australia and beyond. Specifically, the role will have oversite over the operation and program delivery; quality and content development; the financial planning sustainability; and the growth strategy. This new role will provide significant support to Director of BSEM to ensure increased capacity for strategic direction and program supervision.
