The Opportunity
The Berry Street School is a specialist independent school consisting of four campuses based in Ballarat, Morwell, Narre Warren and Shepparton. The Berry Street School promotes positive strengths-based team culture, support at all levels, inclusive environment with lots of PL opportunities. Work/life balance is encouraged and the campuses have small teams of multi-disciplinary professionals to fully support educators.
This position will lead instructional coaching at the campus. The successful candidate will provide strong and clear leadership to teaching staff through the development of processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration. This role will provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development, whilst also coaching and mentoring teachers and Teaching Associates.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objectives of the Learning Specialist Roles are to:
- Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice
- Model exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons
- Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice
- Play a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration
- Coaching and mentoring teachers and teaching associates
About You
To be successful in the role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Teaching/Education, hold a current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration and be able to work creatively to engage our young people in their education. You will understand of the importance of, and have the ability to, work in a team environment in this setting and an understanding of the trauma informed positive education model approach. You will play a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration. You will be able to consistently model exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons as well as the use of student data to inform teaching approaches. Coupled with this, the successful applicant will strive to have an active role in promoting and maintaining stamina for learning in class whilst support the teaching of BSEM concepts and strategies.
