Your Opportunity

The Berry Street School is a specialist independent school that supports around 200 students from years 7 to 12, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Narree Warren campus as a School Clinician.

Students at the Berry Street school have become disengaged from mainstream education. They come from a variety of backgrounds: some have experienced bullying in mainstream schools and some are in out-of-home care (foster, kinship and residential care). This means they often have gaps in their learning.

As the school Clinician, you will support our students through individualised needs and keep them on track with their learning. Without this support, young people are at risk of disengaging completely from school, which can lead to poorer life outcomes.

You will provide clinical services to students who are facing mental health or wellbeing concerns and help to develop clear therapeutic treatment plans and achievable goals.

*Please note you will be required to take leave over the December/January School holiday period.

This is a unique role to use your strong clinical skills to support young people reach their educational and emotional goals and make a real difference. As a School Clinician, you will hold an appropriate Bachelor degree or higher in a Health or Welfare related field, such as Psychology, Social Work, Family therapy or related discipline, as well as extensive experience conducting trauma and developmentally informed clinical work and assessments with children and young people.

A strong understanding of the complexities of child development, trauma theory, attachment theory and have the ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of staff, professionals and key stakeholders.

You will have an understanding and appreciation for the internal and external stressors young people experience in our modern day, and how this effects their ability to engage in education.
