Take Two, Therapeutic Specialist - Hume Region

Berry Streets Take Two program and Residential Care Services have come together to support our young people living in care by providing a stable, holistic, culturally informed therapeutic response developing and encouraging further opportunities for healing, growth and development.

Our Take Two, Therapeutic Specialist will facilitate the change from general residential care practices to a therapeutic approach.

• Based at Shepparton Office, and Residential Care Homes on Yorta Yorta Country.
• Part Time 0.5 FTE
• Base Salary of $110k pro rata + 11% Superannuation + Salary Packaging up to $15,900 pa
• Additional Motor Vehicle Allowance

The opportunity

Take Two provides a range of therapeutic services for infants, children and young people who have suffered trauma, neglect, and disrupted attachment, and contributes to the service system that provides care, support and protection for these children.

One of these services is the Intensive Therapeutic Service, a Victoria-wide service funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, managed by Berry Street.

As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specifically designed clinical support, resources and frameworks to support our Young People residing in Berry Street's Therapeutic Residential Care Homes.

Key Responsibilities

We are searching for a Therapeutic Specialist who will provide therapeutic clinical support to both our Young People and Care staff within the regions Residential Care Homes.

In this role you will use therapeutic assessment and formulation to determine appropriate care and treatment plans which consider a Young Person's trauma and attachment experiences to improve their physical and developmental health and well being.

You will work closely with our Care staff within the homes to up skill and provide guidance around therapeutic frameworks and theories.

Importantly the role will work cooperatively with both internal and external stakeholders concerning the child development, mental health and well-being needs of young people.

The Therapeutic Specialist will be required to provide reflective supervision and consultation with the Care staff.

Your Skills and Experience

You have a strong understanding of developmental trauma and experience conducting clinical work with young people, adolescents and families. You will also have a strong understanding of the complexity of family violence, service systems, and the issues involved in providing services to our clients. Experience working with Young People in Out-Of-Home Care or Child protective Services is highly desirable.

You hold a Bachelor degree level or higher qualification in a Health or Welfare related field such as Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy, Speech Pathology or related discipline.
