Your Opportunity

The Night Residential Care House Supervisor will provide supervision, support, coaching and mentoring to a team of Night Residential Care Workers across the region to ensure a high quality, therapeutically focused care.

In addition, the Night Residential Care House Supervisor will attend to and respond to queries, incidents and concerns from staff in a prompt manner. This role plays a vital part in ensuring overnight safety plans for young people in out of home care are met and will be based on-site from the houses. Further to the Residential Care program, this position is also a key contact to respond to regional incidents in the broader Out of Home Care space.

This role works via a set roster and applicants must be available during the week and across the weekend.

Roster: 70 hours a fortnight

Monday: Off

Tuesday: Off

Wednesday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Thursday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Friday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Saturday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Sunday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Week 2

Monday: Off

Tuesday: Off

Wednesday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Thursday: 8pm to 6am 10 hours

Friday: Off

Saturday: Off

Sunday: Off

Your Key Responsibilities

Night Residential Care House Supervisor is an integral role ensuring the overnight safety of children and young people living in our residential houses and oversees the nighttime operation of the homes, ensuring the environment provides a sense of safety, structure, acceptance and security at all times for children, young people and staff.

  • Manage the nightly operations of the Residential Care homes.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to Residential Care Workers.
  • Comply with reporting requirements for program components.
  • Administration and accountability of annual budgets and program planning.
  • Embedding a therapeutic framework by overseeing best practice implementation of Children and Young People’s individual case management plans and fostering an outcomes-focused team.
  • Develop and assist with house rosters.

Your Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will hold a minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a relevant qualification (Youth Work, Community Services or Alcohol & Other Drugs fields) as well as previous industry experience.

  • Applicants must also complete the Trauma Informed Practice and Upskilling modules as required by Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Continuing employment is dependent on satisfactory evidence provided within 3 months of being engaged in the role. Our team will support you with your enrolment with our partner TAFE, Melbourne Polytechnic.

We are seeking someone who has the ability to identify opportunities for improved practice and can meet the flexible demands of the role. Previous experience leading a team would be advantageous.

Demonstrated understanding of the Child Protection system and of the needs and demands of children and young people entering the Out of Home Care (OoHC) system to ensure best practice principles of care and support are afforded to the children and young people in our care.
