The Opportunity
he Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator is a specialist clinical leadership role with organisational responsibility for infection prevention, surveillance, education, and outbreak management. Reporting to the Executive Director – Clinical Services, you will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure Benalla Health meets all legislative, accreditation, and best‑practice requirements related to infection prevention and control.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Governance oversight of infection prevention and control practices across the health service
- Monitoring and reporting compliance with NSQHS Standard 3 – Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infections and the strengthened Aged Care Standards
- Coordination of surveillance programs (including VICNISS, hand hygiene audits, and vaccination reporting)
- Oversight of staff health and immunisation programs in line with Victorian Department of Health requirements
- Leading infection control education, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Managing outbreaks and occupational exposure incidents
- Providing expert advice on facility development, maintenance, and product compliance to meet infection control standards
This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with strong clinical governance experience who is passionate about patient safety, staff wellbeing, and continuous quality improvement.
Position Status: Part-Time (0.8 FTE)
