So many lives. So many ways. One you.
At Believe Housing Australia (part of the AnglicareSA family), our mission is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a safe, affordable and secure place to call home.
Here, your work goes beyond bricks and mortar. You'll join a passionate crew committed to addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: housing insecurity.
Our work is complex and the challenges we face are significant, but the rewards are unparalleled. Every day, you’ll help us find innovative solutions that make a lasting impact. You’ll help people find not just a house, but a place they can truly call home.
Help vulnerable tenants in Community Housing to feel connected and engaged while managing a portfolio of properties for successful tenancy outcomes.
Join us at Believe Housing Australia and help create brighter futures, together.
What you’ll do
As a Tenancy Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families to maintain safe, secure housing within our community housing portfolio.
You’ll oversee the full tenancy lifecycle, bringing together compliance expertise and a strong commitment to positive tenant outcomes.
From routine inspections to supporting tenants experiencing hardship, you’ll ensure properties are well managed while empowering people to sustain their housing.
Working closely with internal teams and external services, you’ll also respond to complex tenancy matters and help create inclusive, respectful communities where people feel safe and supported.
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
- Supporting the full tenancy lifecycle from sign-up to exit – ensuring compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act 1995 (SA)
- Maintaining accurate data across tenancy and asset management systems and actively contributing to reporting, audits and continuous improvement.
- Conducting routine, entry and final inspections in line with legislative requirements and identifying, reporting and following up on property condition or maintenance issues.
- Preparing and presenting SACAT applications and implementing outcomes
- Building positive, respectful relationships with tenants from diverse backgrounds and providing early intervention to help sustain tenancies, particularly for tenants experiencing complex needs such as mental health challenges, financial hardship, family violence or disability.
A Day in the Life of a Tenancy Officer at Believe Housing Australia
Start your day with a sense of purpose, knowing that your work directly impacts the lives of individuals in your community.
Begin by conducting inspections, working closely with tenants to improve standards where needed. You take the opportunity to build relationships with tenants and identify any extra support required and engage with new tenants - setting them up for success.
Throughout the day, you collaborate with different teams on maintenance requests, income recovery and vacancy management, and connect with your Team Coordinator on any issues.
You handle sign-ups, lease renewals, address any tenancy issues and foster a sense of community among residents.
Head home knowing your role is not just about managing properties; it's about creating a thriving, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and connected.
What you’ll bring
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in tenancy, property or community housing management with strong working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1995 (SA)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution and de‑escalation, and demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable individuals
- Competence in using tenancy systems and MS Office for accurate record keeping
- Effective time management skills with strong prioritisation, organisation and multi-talking abilities.
We would also love you to have:
- Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Property Management, or related fields (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
