Beechworth Health Services are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team on a part-time basis.

About the Role:

The Cook is responsible for the preparation, presentation and service of safe, nutritious and appetising meals and refreshments that meet the dietary, clinical and personal preferences of residents, patients and consumers.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary hospitality team, the Cook contributes to positive dining experiences that promote health, wellbeing, dignity and quality of life. The role ensures food services are delivered in accordance with food safety legislation, infection prevention and control requirements, organisational policies and person-centred care principles.

Food is an important part of everyday life, providing comfort, connection and enjoyment. This role plays a vital part in creating welcoming dining experiences that bring pleasure to consumers while supporting Beechworth Health Service's commitment to excellence in care and service.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery), or equivalent qualification; or demonstrated experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in food preparation, cooking and meal service within a commercial, healthcare, aged care, hospitality or catering environment.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety principles, infection prevention and control practices, allergen management and safe food handling requirements.
  • Current Food Safety Handler certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present high-quality meals in accordance with recipes, menus, dietary requirements and portion control standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, food quality and service standards.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet operational deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, patients, consumers, families and colleagues.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and the delivery of positive dining experiences that promote dignity, choice and quality of life.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, safe manual handling practices and chemical safety procedures.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and participation in mandatory training and competency programs.
