Bayer is undergoing a major transformation in our operating model and customer engagement approach to better serve our patients and customers and achieve ‘Health for All’. Reporting to the Country Medical Director (CMD), the Medical Affairs Associate works broadly across the Medical Department and is responsible for assisting in the provision of accurate and timely medical and scientific information to internal and external stakeholders working collaboratively to support the team.

The Medical Affairs Associate is an integral part of the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Medical Affairs team working collaboratively with internal and external customers in line with Bayer SOPs. You will support product squads in transforming medical data into marketing strategy, provide product training internally to marketing and sales functions and externally to doctors if necessary and provide timely and appropriate medical review and approval of promotional material when requested by the Country Medical Director.

The successful candidate will support the day to day running of patient support and replacement programs for ANZ, coordinating access to products on compassionate grounds that are outside government subsidy/reimbursement (for on-label indication) for ANZ. 

Key Tasks.

  • Facilitate/coordinate the application process for access to products for patients not eligible for PBS reimbursement (compassionate) or on grounds of limited special access for ANZ
  • Support contract for sponsorships, grant requests, speaker agreements, purchase orders
  • Support Product Squads in transforming medical data into marketing strategy working closely with internal customers (medical, marketing and sales) as well as relevant regional and global Medical Affairs
  • Provide development project and product training internally to marketing and sales functions and externally to doctors if required
  • Provide timely and appropriate medical review and approval of promotional material as directed by the Country Medical Director.
  • Support and educate internal customers in compliance with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
  • Support the implementation of DSO principles to have an agile and dynamic organisation
  • Support NIS and IIR activities
  • Ensure all approvals and re-supplies are in line with local and global Bayer SOPs for ANZ patient support and replacement programs, including medical advisor approvals, storage and management of information and privacy

Does this sound like you?

  • Tertiary degree in Life Sciences/Healthcare/Science
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly desirable
  • Great team player with extensive experience working in a team-based environment
  • Previous experience in compliance or medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry if possible
  • Good understanding or appreciation of privacy laws/ compliance requirements as it pertains to the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong relationship builder internally and externally – high level of integrity and trust
  • Good communication
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated learning agility with capacity to adapt to changing environments and learn quickly about new therapeutic areas, scientific advancements, and industry trends
  • Excellent planning, organising, prioritising, and project management skills
  • Strong customer-focus
