Where do you want to go?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Residues Chemist to manage residue studies and the conduct of high quality analytical procedures, to provide the residues data necessary for the registration of new products and extension of label claims for existing products in Australia. 

Do something that moves you.

  • Reporting to the Residues Programme Lead, you will also be responsible for developing the skills of the wider team and assume management responsibilities for the laboratory in the absence of the Residues Programme Lead. 
  • Fulfil the GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) role and functions of Study Director and Laboratory Principal Investigator.
  • Draft study plans in conjunction with the Residues Programme Lead and other members of the Regulatory Science team.
  • Manage field contractors responsible for the field phase of the study.
  • Manage and take responsibility for the analytical phase of the study, including analysis of samples, data handling and reporting.
  • Produce GLP compliant study reports.
  • Provide training and development for wider team.
  • Work in conjunction with other senior staff to supervise junior staff and contractors.
  • Manage the development and validation of assigned analytical test methods for new compounds.
  • Manage assigned laboratory and computerised systems.
  • Keep up to date with any developments relating to residues analysis.

Does this sound like you?

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in science or agriculture, or possess equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with LC/MS, HPLC UV/vis and similar instruments.
  • Experience in the development and validation of methods for residue analysis.
  • An understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements for a laboratory environment.
  • An understanding of laboratory QA systems.
  • Direct or indirect leadership experience.
  • Ability to coach junior staff in analytical techniques.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An understanding of Australian agriculture.
