Bayer CropScience is offering a paid intern placement in its Market Development department (Wagga Wagga, NSW).

The opportunity will provide experience in the development of cutting edge agricultural inputs within Australia prior to and around registration and launch. The successful candidate will be assisting in delivering the development and launch of numerous new products within a large multi-national public company and industry leader. 

About the placement

Bayer CropScience is partnering with select universities to provide a part time paid internship for a current student. This is the job advertisement page for the Market Development position in Wagga Wagga.

This will solely be open to 2nd and 3rd year students studying a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, in subjects such as Agronomy, Plant Pests and Pathogens, Soil Science, Botany or similar subjects provided by the university.

The opportunity will involve undertaking a part time placement for up to 6 weeks or 200 hours (if a bulk placement does not suit) to compliment your studies in the above subjects.

Who are the Market Development team?

Market Development focus on assisting with activities associated with launching and stewarding new products as they come to market. Such activities will include conducting and managing a demonstration trial program, working with growers to conduct large scale product evaluation, conducting field days for extension purposes as well as collecting and processing data from trials.

Duties may include:

  1. Assisting with the demonstration and communication of new crop protection products to professional advisors, farmers and key influencers so they can see how they fit as a viable business solution in the local and regional farming environment.
  2. Assist with the conducting of field trial activities for the evaluation of products and their competitors. Such duties include liaising with growers and agronomists to identify suitable sites, spraying and assessing trials, collation and analysis of data and the preparation of reports.
  3. To identify market trends and opportunities for development of new products and new product uses.

Application criteria

  • We are looking for a proactive and collaborative student, who does not mind getting their hands in the soil. Most days are out in the fields.
  • Be a 2nd or 3rd year student studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural science in subjects such as Agronomy, Plant Pests and Pathogens, Soil Science, Botany or similar subjects provided by the partnership universities.
  • Hold a current open drivers’ licence and be willing to drive to field locations if you have a suitable vehicle or meet one of our Agronomists at a centralised point at travel in a Bayer vehicle.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required, which will be organised and paid for by Bayer.
