Buying Assistant

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the Buying Assistant supports the delivery of category strategies across a dynamic retail portfolio. This role plays a key part in executing buying plans, maintaining product data, coordinating suppliers, and ensuring the right products are available to meet customer needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and commercially curious individual ready to accelerate their buying career, with a clear pathway to develop into a Junior Buyer role in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key responsibilities

Category & Product Support

  • Support the delivery of category plans, including product setup, range reviews, and lifecycle management
  • Maintain accurate product data, pricing, and systems to ensure seamless trading
  • Coordinate product information and samples to support range builds and decision-making

Supplier Coordination

  • Support supplier communication and coordination in partnership with the Buyer
  • Assist with onboarding documentation and ongoing administrative processes
  • Coordinate samples, product details, and approvals with internal teams

Range, Inventory & Promotions

  • Analyse sales and trends to support customer-led range decisions
  • Partner with Planning to monitor stock levels, availability, and supply risks
  • Support promotional setup, pricing, and campaign execution

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Digital, Supply Chain, and Stores
  • Provide reporting, insights, and administrative support for launches and campaigns
  • Ensure data accuracy and contribute to process improvements
  • Support promotional planning and execution to help drive sales performance

Cross functional collaboration

  • Collaborate with planning, marketing, digital, supply chain, and store teams to support category initiatives
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to ensure successful campaign and product launches
  • Contribute insights and reporting to support decision-making

Risk, compliance & governance

  • Ensure product data accuracy and compliance with company policies and standards
  • Support documentation management and maintain up-to-date records
  • Assist in identifying and escalating potential supply or product risks

About you

You’re organised, proactive, and eager to build your career in retail buying. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in an administrative, retail, or buying support role (or a strong desire to build a career in buying)
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn in a team environment
  • Commercial curiosity and a passion for delivering great customer outcomes
