Baby Bunting is Australia's largest nursery specialty retailer, but we're much more than that. We're a growing community dedicated to supporting parents through every step of their journey.

Our purpose? To share in the joy and provide support through the challenges of raising little ones by empowering parents to make the best choices for their families.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join Baby Bunting. Future focused, we’re rolling out innovative store concepts and revitalising our existing network to deliver exceptional experiences for both current and future customers. The newly created role of Planning Assistant (New Stores) will play a part in helping us to achieve this.

The Planning Assistant (New Stores) provides vital support to the merchandise planning team, contributing to the development and execution of merchandise strategies across various business areas. This role involves assisting with data analysis, report generation, and inventory management to optimise sales, profitability and stock efficiency.

Key responsibilities for new stores openings:

  • Launch new and refurbished stores with the right stock—correct products, quantities, and timing.
  • Coordinate with Merchandise, Store of the Future and Distribution Centre teams to align inventory with project milestones and store openings.
  • Maintain accurate inventory data in project trackers and ensure system alignment across ITV, Relex, and Spaceman.
  • Monitor and resolve stock issues, including delayed orders, range gaps, and excess inventory redistribution.
  • Support store forecasting and replenishment by validating Relex data and managing SKU lifecycle during refurbishments.

In addition, the role also has responsibilities outside of new stores and involves forecasting and replenishment using Relex, maintaining high stock availability, and supporting promotional planning. It includes data analysis, performance reporting, and collaboration across teams. Accuracy in planning documents and KPIs is essential, alongside participation in budgeting and maintaining core inventory standards

About you

  • 2- 3 years of experience in merchandise planning
  • Proven track record of successful inventory management and sales growth.
  • Experience in a multi-department retail environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with the ability to make data-driven decisions to manage budgets and maximise profitability.
  • Proficient in data entry, analysis, and interpretation, with excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of retail operations and merchandising principles.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with adaptability and resilience in a customer-focused, evolving retail landscape.
