Procurement Lead - Store Development
📍 Location: Dandenong South Store Support Office
🕐 Full-time, Permanent
Baby Bunting is Australia's largest nursery specialty retailer, but we're much more than that. We're a growing community dedicated to supporting parents through every step of their journey. Our purpose? To share in the joy and provide support through the challenges of raising little ones by empowering parents to make the best choices for their families.
We’re seeking a Procurement Lead with proven experience in sourcing from local, Chinese & international markets, ideally within a fast-paced environment such as retail, shop fit-out, or construction, to join our growing Store Development team. In this newly created role, you’ll lead procurement for our national store network across new builds, refurbishments, services and facilities. From negotiating key supplier contracts to driving value and compliance across every purchase, you’ll be a critical part of delivering the stores of the future for thousands of Aussie families.
Why this role matters:
We’re growing fast. With plans to expand from 75 to 110 stores, we’re entering our most accelerated growth phase since opening our first store in Balwyn back in 1970. We're introducing smaller-format sites to reach even more families and rolling out our “Store of the Future” concept, showcased in our flagship Maribyrnong store. To support this exciting expansion, we’re significantly growing our Store Development team with nine newly created roles. Each role will play a hands-on part in transforming our store network to better support new parents across Australia and New Zealand.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Developing and delivering a procurement strategy aligned with our store development roadmap
- Leading end-to-end procurement for all store projects, from capital expenditure to fit-out services and sundry goods
- Establishing preferred supplier panels and securing competitive pricing and commercial terms
- Working closely with Store Development and Facilities to forecast needs and align sourcing plans
- Managing RFQs, tender processes, contract negotiations, and procurement governance
- Overseeing supplier performance, holding vendors to service levels and agreed KPIs
- Analysing market trends and pricing shifts to support smarter procurement decisions
- Building policies, processes, and tools that scale with the business
- Supporting project timelines by ensuring procurement dependencies stay on track
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, and/or contract management roles
- Experience in sourcing from local, Chinese & international markets (please ensure this is clear in your resume)
- Proven experience in a fast-paced environment (retail/shop fit out or construction)
- Strong commercial acumen, budgeting skills and negotiation expertise
- Deep knowledge of procurement legislation and ethical sourcing principles
- Exposure to ERP or procurement platforms
- A degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related discipline
